The Orofino Branch was founded in 1935. Throughout the years, our members have included teachers, librarians, writers, office managers, and journalists. We have welcomed medical technologists, artists, lawyers, community leaders, doctors, business women, outdoor enthusiasts and stay-at-home moms. We share a common regard for the advancement of women and girls through education.
The Orofino Branch of AAUW hosts events and participates in community life. In 2005 we became the sponsors of the Patchwork Bazaar, a holiday arts and crafts fair held the first Saturday in December. Many individuals and community organizations participate in the Patchwork Bazaar as vendors. This is one of the Orofino Branch fundraisers.
We also raise money for branch projects by co-sponsoring a food booth at Lumberjack Days in mid-September.
In service to community, we host a "Rally for a Cure" golf event on the 2nd Tuesday in July to increase awareness about breast cancer and breast health. We partner with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
